Although this blog is about petite fashion, I just wanted to wish UK readers a Happy Pancake Day.
I’m really bad at making pancakes so each year I get the above delicious pancakes from good old Marks & Spencer.
As you can see from the photo, I couldn’t wait until Pancake Day to start eating these
For those of you who are reading this blog and wondering what the significance of Pancake Day in the UK, here’s a bit of information from www.about.com
“Pancake Day also known as Shrove Tuesday in Britain. Pancake day is the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. ‘Shrove’ – as in Shrove Tuesday – stems from old English word ‘shrive’, meaning ‘confess all sins’. It is called Pancake Day because it is the day traditionally for eating pancakes as pancake recipes were a way to use up any stocks of milk, butter and eggs which were forbidden during the abstinence of Lent.”
I’d love to hear what your favourite fillings are for pancakes. Simply leave a comment below.
