Dorothy Perkins Petite Items Ordered

Firstly may I wish all US readers a Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope you enjoy your 4 day weekend 🙂

Last week Dorothy Perkins had a promotion on where they had 25% off in-store and online.  I ordered 3 items from their petite range.  Here’s my review of the items:

1.  Red Peplum Dress

I loved this dress from the moment I saw it, however the UK Size 10 (US Size 6) wasn’t available so I ordered the Size 8 hoping it might fit.  Needless to say that it ended up being too small for me, but here  are my views on item:

Pros

  • I love the colour and the cute split which can be seen on the bottom right of the dress.  I didn’t notice this when I saw it on the website.

  • It would look great on petites who have a waist or those who don’t have a waist but want to create an illusion of one.
  • The length of the dress sits nicely just above the knee.

Cons

  • It’s made out of 100% polyester. Luckily due to the colour of the dress, it doesn’t look cheap unlike other 100% polyester dresses I’ve seen.
  • Only the top half is lined as shown in the photo below.  It would have been ideal if they could have lined the bottom half too.

Verdict

Will buy again when the UK Size 10 comes back into stock and there’s a promotion on.

2.  Black Spot Peplum Top

Pros

  • I love this classic polka dot design.  A timeless pattern that will never date.
  • It would look great on petites who have a waist or those who don’t have a waist but want to create an illusion of one.
  • It has a exposed zip at the back which I love.

Cons

  • Too short in the body for me although you can’t really tell from the photo.    The waist sits a couple of inches above my  natural waist line.
  • The polka dots are a yellowy white colour.

Verdict

To be returned.

3.  Black/Rose Print Dress

Pros

  • I love the light and floaty material on this dress.
  • The pattern hides a multitude of sins.
  • Versatile.  Can be worn all season round

Cons

  • The elasticated waist doesn’t sit on my waist or under the bust.  Somewhere half way between.  The elastic was also a little too tight making it uncomfortable for it to wear.
  • I don’t know whether it is the pattern or floaty material, but the dress makes me look bigger than I actually am.

Verdict

To be returned.
